ANIMATION

Videogame Level Demo

This project was done using Adobe Illustrator to design the characters and environment and After Effects for animation and effects. I came up with an idea for a videogame concept and a level, and put it all together with my own imagination. It was not made into an actual game you could play, everything is animated in After Effects.

Videogame Level Demo 2

Here is another Illustrator/ After Effects project. It's pretty much the same concept as my other project, but this time of course it's a different kind of level. Here I went ahead with a Western/ industrial theme. This level and the other one would both tie into the same game.

Thief n' Sidekick

A short animation project where I had to pick one element from each of four different categories (characters, personalities, props, and environments). My elements were the thief from characters, absent-minded man from personalities (used as an additional character), cell phone from props, and forest from environments.
On a side note: for some reason it freezes for a split second on some parts when uploaded here, but my original video file plays fine.

Deer Chase

This project involved two original characters while giving a lot of exaggeration. It was done by sketching each frame, then brought into Flash to organize and animate.

Two Animals, One Mallet

A short animation clip done in pencil, frame by frame, then scanned and put together in flash. The animation involves two interacting characters, and this is the result.

Two Animals, One Mallet - in color

The same project as the pencil-sketched one, this time experimenting with a way to colorize it. Flash was used to trace every frame using a drawing tablet.

Animated Wave Test

This is a test project where I experimented with the animation principles of waves and studied the waves of certain objects, such as seaweed. Here I applied those principles to an original character of mine. Sketched by hand then transferred to FlipBook on the computer.

Emotional Box Test

Here is another test project, this time using a pre-rigged box character to interact with an object and show multiple emotions. My goals here included using principles such as squash/stretch and exaggeration to give it that cartoon comedy feel.

Tyrannosaurus Walk Cycle - Top View

3D animation test using a pre-rigged tyrannosaurus rex for a walk cycle (top view). This ties in with the wave principles I applied to my 2D project. It shows more wave-like movement looking at it from the neck to the tip of the tail.

Tyrannosaurus Walk Cycle - Perspective View

3D animation test using a pre-rigged tyrannosaurus rex for a walk cycle (perspective view). This ties in with the wave principles I applied to my 2D project. More work is done here to really get that dinosaur-like movement in the feet.

3D Walk Cycle - Front View

3D animation test using a pre-rigged model for a walk cycle (front view). Part of the main focus was to perfect the flow of movement from the shoulders to the hips.

3D Walk Cycle - Side View

3D animation test using a pre-rigged model for a walk cycle (side view). Again here, flow of movement is necessary, this time from the side view. Also, the way the legs bend was an additional focus.
